Apple already testing post-iOS 7 updates with bug fixes, suggests report
Although iOS 7 will be dropping on iPhones and iPads across the globe on 18 September, there are reports suggesting that the company is already preparing the launch of other future software versions. These newer versions, namely iOS 7.1, iOS 7.0.1 and iOS 7.0.2 will include multiple bug fixes and could even be a hint of next-gen iPad compatibility.
9to5Mac reports that there are already teams on the job, working on and testing iOS 7.1, iOS 7.0.1 and iOS 7.0.2. It’s also suggesting that the new update might only be released some time in October or even later this month. Could this be timed with a new iPad mini 2 or the iPad 5?
Apple recently announced the removal of the iCloud Keychain feature which was used to help remember or store account names, passwords and other personal information. This is rumoured to relaunch with iOS 7.0.1 or iOS 7.0.2.
Multiple update testings are considerably normal for large software companies like Apple. Newer, bug-free versions usually roll out just a few weeks after a major update is released. When iOS 6 was launched for instance, it took Apple only six weeks to make iOS 6.0.1 available for the iPhone with general UI improvements and fewer glitches.
Furthermore, the report points out that while Apple has been working on iOS 7 way before WWDC 2013 in June, the operating software is experiencing more system crashes than anyone has anticipated.
So while you’re extremely excited about this new and improved software update, it might not be all that smooth. Some of the most anticipated updates of iOS 7 is a completely revamped design, a Control Center and improved Siri. iOS 7 will be available for the iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPad mini and iPod touch 5th gen and later models.
