Back in January at CES 2015, there was one phone that really stood out from the rest. It was the first to boast the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset and one of the first to feature 3GB of RAM. It was also one of the most promising curved phones we had seen in a long, long time.
The LG G Flex 2 is now officially coming to South Africa in April, as a Vodacom exclusive for R10 499 on prepaid, but that doesn’t really tell the entire story.
LG’s a bit curve-mad at the moment, with devices sporting anything other than straight lines becoming something of a norm for the Korean company. But if you thought a curved phone was a pointless gimmick before (like I did), you should really have a bash at the G Flex 2. And the star of the show? Its camera.
Although the vast majority of Cape Town’s natural splendour has been gutted by the massive South Peninsula fire that has ravaged much of the mountain vistas this week, we managed to take a trip up in a helicopter a week prior to see if the LG G Flex 2 could capture the essence of the city, and to really test it to its limit in trying conditions.

Look out for an extensive review of the handset on Gearburn once we get our hands on it later this year. But for now, have a look at what the LG G Flex 2’s camera can do with the beauty of Cape Town as its subject.
