‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’, ‘Project Cars’ and HTC Vive demo: this week’s TGIF Video Roundup
TGIF, and we really shouldn’t be at work, but that won’t stop us from gandering through the week’s best tech, gadget and gaming videos, now will it? If you missed last week’s roundup, catch it below.

With the news that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is delayed until 2016 announced this week, the gaming world (at least on the blue team) is rather teary-eyed. But not to worry. There are plenty of other titles to satisfy your gaming lust until then, and we have just the TGIF Video Roundup to prove it.
If that wasn’t the only game news that brought a tear to our eyes, the announcement that Project Cars will be delayed once again, really dug the knife a little deeper. So as a look at what we’ll be missing for the next few weeks, we have found a fitting Oculus DK2 demo of the game, racing a McLaren F1 around Le Mans’ Circuit de la Sarthe.
Keeping with the VR feel, we have a demo video of the HTC Vive in action, thanks to Cloudhead Games’ The Gallery: Six Elements, which could prove just how immersive gaming in the future promises to be.
We also have an initial playthough of Ori and the Blind Forest to preview our review coming up pretty soon on Gearburn. Have a look at this gorgeous but sad game in more visual detail for now.
Finally, in our Friday Flashback, we dark all the way back to GDC 2005, where Satoru Iwata delivered his “Heart of a Gamer” keynote. It’s not only brilliant, but brilliantly fitting, considering that Nintendo has outsold both Microsoft and Sony in the month of February. We’ll elaborate on this a little later.
1. The HTC Vive “won’t make you sick”, but it sure does look sick
VR is definitely in its infancy, but like a fine wine, it will only get better with time.
Valve‘s partnership with HTC on the Vive VR headset won’t exactly be a hindrance either in pushing the device into gaming markets, and for one, this demo proves that it’s a more than adequate hardware package.

Cloudhead Games, primarily a VR games studio (get ready to hear that term more often), has crafted The Gallery: Six Elements with VR in mind, bearing a world that gamer’s can touch and interact with, and it looks brilliant.
You can read more about Cloudhead Games’ effort here.
2. Project Cars is delayed, once again
This wasn’t a complete surprise, as Project Cars is fast becoming one of the most eagerly anticipated racing games ever crafted. Pressures to deliver a sound and accurate project is high, and if games before it were any indication (I’m looking at you, Drive Club) polishing a game before worldwide release is critical.
Of course, there are also other elements that makes Project Cars a massively exciting prospect.
In 2014, Project Cars was demoed running on an Oculus DK2, and the vehicle of choice? A McLaren F1 — still one of the fastest road going cars ever built, nearly two decades later.
3. Resist shedding a tear (we dare you) through this Ori and the Blind Forest playthough
What a beautiful game, right? If rave reviews are anything to go by, Ori and the Blind Forest could definitely take Game of the Year award, if not Platformer of the Year. The wispy, whimsical visuals are woven between a complex and sad storyline.
“What, a game that conjures emotions?” I hear you ask?
Well, have a look at MKIceAndFire‘s no commentary playthrough, and try not to shed a tear.
4. Friday Flashback: “The Heart of a Gamer” is one of Satoru Iwata’s finest moments
Nintendo is riding quite a wave at the moment, selling New 3DS and 3DS XL systems left, right and centre, and outselling its Japanese and American rivals last month. Sure, the PS4 is still the best home console, but Nintendo has the greater hardware numbers in February, and there’s something we don’t see to often in the modern era.

To celebrate, have a look at Nintendo president Satoru Iwata’s GDC 2005 keynote, where he talks about gaming as a true gamer himself. We couldn’t quite fit all five parts of the video series in, but have a quick search on YouTube if you’d like to see the full keynote, or read IGN’s complete transcript.
Welcome back, Nintendo.
5. How can we forget about Uncharted 4? Or Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune for that matter?
Goodness, the PS4 exclusive crowd is really having a touch year thus far. With titles like The Order: 1886 falling flat on its face, and others like Drive Club not exactly delivering on the experience front, there was a lot riding on Uncharted 4’s success. Unfortunately, Naughty Dog has announced that the game will be delayed by nearly a full year, in order to deliver a polished product.
It makes sense, but it also makes us very sad.

Although we’d love to gander through the Uncharted 4 trailer once again, we thought of doing something a little different.
Back in 2007, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune hit the PlayStation 3 in a big way, selling over a million copies in its first week and bolstering Sony’s and Naughty Dog‘s revenues quite a substantial amount.
So, to understand where we’re going, we have to know where we’ve come front, right?
Bonus: Introducing the ultimate Apple engineer interview
It’s good to know that even Apple can laugh at itself sometimes, even while the world is laughing at it too.
When the company launched the new 13mm-thin MacBook with just one USB Type-C port, the world was both amazed and puzzled. One port, Apple? So I can either charge my laptop or read my hard drive, but not both simultaneously?
This is probably the best subtitle dub since the Downfall/Hitler reacts parodies that swept through the internet a few years ago.
Try extremely hard not to laugh, and you’ll get a cookie.
