Ford would very much like you to meet the new Focus ST
While most of the audience at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed would’ve been consumed with some very rare, expensive and beautiful cars going fast, Ford unleashed the new Focus ST and boy does it look good.
The new Focus, which also comes with a Diesel variant unfortunately dubbed the STD, includes a host of new features. Most of them, including the revised steering and sports suspension are about improving the car’s handling and performance. A few, such as the new headlamps, alloy wheels and front and rear fascias have given the new Focus ST an even more aggressive look than its predecessors had.
The Dearborn-based automaker’s latest hatch is powered by turbocharged 2.0 litre Ecoboost engine capable of pushing out 252 horsepower (188kw).
It’s not short on tech either. The thing that’ll hit drivers first is the new center console with more storage space including a new media bin with USB smart charging port, which Ford says charges two times faster than previous USB port.
There’s also the by now usual host of connectivty technologies including Ford SYNC and the ability to download apps from the Android and iOS stores using AppLink. Once you take off meanwhile, you’ll also have a number of driver aids — a gift from Ford aimed at making it as difficult as possible to roll your shiny new hatch into a ditch.
