Here’s the fleet of special edition hatches Fiat is taking to Geneva [Gallery]
It looks like Fiat is going to be all about special edition hatchbacks at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The Italian auto-giant has announced that it will be using the show to launch the new 500X, 500, Panda and Doblò models.
Here’s a breakdown of what Fiat says will be included in each of the four new models.
Fiat 500X
The crossover version of marques immensely popular city car, Fiat will be displaying two versions of the Lounge model. It calls this “the more metropolitan side of the Fiat crossover”.
The new version comes equipped with an automatic and sequential 6-gear dual clutch transmission, available in combination with the 1.4 company’s MultiAir II 140 HP engine with front wheel drive.
Fiat 500 Vintage ’57
While the current Fiat 500 is significantly larger than the original, Fiat still seems pretty keen to celebrate the badge’s history. The Vintage ’57 is meant to be a contemporary interpretation of certain stylistic features that made it famous in the 60s and 70s.
To that end, it has a pastel blue body combined with a white roof, spoiler, antenna, mirror covers, as well as 16″ white chrome vintage alloy rims.
Fiat’s also tried to bring that retro feel into the car’s interior by with the white dashboard and upholstery in tobacco Frau leather with ‘half-moon’ inserts (stylistic feature of the model) in ivory leather with tobacco coloured “500” embroidery.
Despite the car’s retro feel, it has more than enough contemporary tech to keep you happy and safe on the road. Standard features include: a manual climate control system, Blue&Me system, CD+MP3 radio, ABS with EBD, 7 airbags, Start&Stop system, ESP complete with ASR/MSR, HBA and Hill Holder.
Available for sale starting in March, the new Vintage ’57 special series will be available with 1.2 69 HP, 0.9 Twin Air 65 HP, 0.9 Twin Air 85 HP and 0.9 Twin Air 105 HP petrol engines as well as the 1.3 Multijet 95 HP diesel engine.
Fiat Doblò Trekking
The Doblò isn’t exactly what we’d call a looker and the Trekking model doesn’t do much to change that reputation. According to Fiat, the Trekking version “provides more selection for the Fiat Active Family Space”.
We’re guessing that means its easier to move the seats around.
Fiat Panda K-Way
It’s like a regular Panda but with interior and external flourishes from outdoor clothing brand K-Way. It’s not however just a special once-off for Geneva. Fiat will be selling the Panda K-Way in Italy from the end of April and throughout the rest of Europe from the end of May.
