The Subaru Legacy is all grown up.
The Japanese firm on Thursday launched its 2020 edition Legacy at the Chicago Motor Show in the US, and wow, does it feature a lot of leather.
For enthusiasts, you’ll be happy to know that Subaru still employs a boxer engine but in a new 2.4 litre turbocharged guise, or a 2.5 litre naturally aspirated spec with 260 brake horsepower and 182 brake horsepower, respectively.
It’s also built on Subaru’s shared Global Platform, and boasts all-wheel drive.

Outside, it’s not the prettiest car you’ve ever seen, but it does boast robust Subaru-like lines that have become the car maker’s forte in recent years.
But it’s the cabin where the real changes take place.
There’s now an 11.6 inch infotainment system in the centre console, alongside support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. And if you love tan leather, there’s plenty of that too in the “Touring” trim spec.
This tan colour’s also applied to elements on the doors and dashboard.
Subaru’s also included a host of driver aids, including “Available Driver Monitoring System” which alerts the driver if distracted or drowsiness ensues, Reverse Automatic Braking, a Rear Vehicle Detection system, and a front view camera.
The car will be available in the US shortly, but Subaru Southern Africa has yet to announce a date of arrival for local buyers.
