Mystery 7 August LG event probably about the Optimus G2
LG’s sending out invites as we speak for the (rumoured) launch of its latest flagship phone, the Optimus G2. The invite is clad in black silk and reads “Great 2 have you! Place_New York City Date_August 7 2013.” The text at the bottom are invite specific details blurred out to protect the identity of each guest. The invite is easy to decipher, leaving only the teaser video to keep us motivated until next month August.
There’s not too much known about the upcoming LG Optimus G2, besides the fact that the original G was one of the most powerful phones of 2012. Just look at its specs.
Androidcentral reports that the G2 will use a Snapdragon 800 CPU, the successor to the G 1’s Snapdragon S4 Pro. It’s also reported that the Snapdragon 800 offers “75 percent better performance than the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor”.
There’s also a beefed up GPS sensor, namely Qualcomm’s IZat Location technology, which has GNSS for “more accurate navigation and location services.” IZat is more contextually aware and uses location-based services to provide in-depth details for apps that use GPS.
A corresponding report from Androidcentral says that the G2 will sport “ultra HD recording and playback” which has four times the detail and image capturing power of a 1080p video recorder. It’s also rumoured that the G2 will support screen resolutions of up to 2560×2048, which makes it one of the highest pixel density outputs yet, for a smartphone.
If only the teaser video and silk-drenched invite gave us more than tingles up and down our spines. Come 7 August, the world may be enjoying LG’s best-looking and fastest smartphone yet.
