Xiaomi Mi 5: launch confirmed for 24 February
The Xiaomi Mi 5, the company’s next flagship phone, will launch on 24 February, the company’s co-founder Hugo Barra today confirmed.
Barra took to Facebook with this post:
Mi 5 is almost here! It’s Xiaomi’s first product launch in 2016, happening on February 24. What do you imagine when you think of Mi 5?
There’s really no fluff here at all really. And judging by the Xiaomi Mi 5’s purported specs, we don’t expect Xiaomi to hold any punches either.
We should be getting a 2560×1440 display likely set within the 5.0-inch range, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, up to 4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. Camera options include a 16MP sensor at the rear, and a rather large 13MP up front pulling selfie duties.
We also believe that the phone will run Android Marshmallow out-the-box, with Xiaomi’s MiUI 7.1 skin overlaid.
