Sony at E3 2017: what did you miss? [Videos]
You’d be forgiven if you missed out on Sony’s E3 2017 conference, taking place at 3am SAST, for one.
So what did they show off? Any new exclusives? Check out the major highlights below.
Shadow of the Colossus
It’s one of the most iconic PS2 games. Hell, it’s one of the most iconic games ever made. And it’s receiving a PS4 port.
Set for a vague 2018 release, we can expect the same towering colossi and heavily upgraded visuals, if the trailer can be believed.
Spider-Man
We finally got a better look at Spider-Man, being done by the Insomniac people.
Due for 2018 as well, the trailer shows off plenty of combo attacks, , mini-boss fights, use of the environment to dispatch enemies and a few QTE moments.
Gran Turismo Sport
After a period where it looked like a ho-hum title, Gran Turismo Sport is finally shaping up to be something special when it launches later this year.
The latest trailer is less about the game itself (although there is gameplay), being more about the racing side of things, nostalgia and the real-world success of GT Academy.
Ni No Kuni 2
The first game was one of the PS3’s best hits, delivering charming characters, beautiful visuals and a lengthy story.
Now, Ni No Kuni 2 has surfaced once again, showing off gameplay and setting the stage for a 10 November release.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
Is it a timed exclusive or not? In any event, Crash Bandicoot’s lovely remake is around the corner (30 June).
Sony also issued a launch trailer for the game, highlighting the visual difference and included games (1, 2 and 3).
Detroit: Become Human
Quantic Dream’s latest title has also received a more substantial trailer, showing off the plot and some gameplay. Still no release date though.
The story sees you playing as an android of sorts, in a bid to free other androids and fight against humans. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Quantic Dream game without multiple choice tomfoolery.
Days Gone
Is it a generic exclusive zombie game? It could be argued that last year’s trailer didn’t exactly do wonders for the game. Now, we’ve got a new video for Days Gone — still no release date though.
An open world action title set in the lush Pacific North West, the game looks gorgeous at this point. The zombies are still here, but you’ll also have other enemies to contend with.
God of War
God of War was one of last year’s surprises, showing a distinctly Norse feel and a more methodical (though no less brutal) pace to the combat.
We received another extended look at the game at Sony’s conference, showing more of the combat, enemies and a variety of environments. An early 2018 release beckons.
Horizon Zero Dawn DLC
Want more Horizon? Well, Sony and Guerrilla are obliging with the release of The Frozen Wilds DLC.
As the name implies, this takes place in tundra and snow-swept regions, with a new story and new characters to experience. Expect a release later this year.
Skyrim in VR
Got Skyrim on PS3, PS4 and preordered for Switch? Well, that won’t do, because Skyrim is now coming to PSVR as well.
Yep, the title takes the full game and expansions but changes up the controls in a big way. Get your headsets ready for November.
