DreamWorks Animation and social game maker Zynga are teaming up to promote the upcoming movie “Megamind” inside FarmVille, one of the most popular games on Facebook.
DreamWorks, maker of “Shrek,” “Kung Fu Panda” and other hit movies, and Zynga said the promotion is the first of a feature film inside FarmVille, which claims 17 million daily players.
They said that on Thursday the Megamind character from the movie, which opens in the United States on Friday, will launch his own “Mega-Farm” within FarmVille featuring the storyline and characters from the film.
It said “special items” will be available to visitors to the “Mega-Farm” including a “Mega-Grow” formula which helps FarmVille players instantly grow crops without wilting.
“FarmVille’s extraordinary reach in the social media and gaming space is unparalleled and we are thrilled to work with Zynga to bring Megamind into their online world,” DreamWorks marketing chief Anne Globe said.
“Through this first-of-its-kind global collaboration, we look forward to reaching movie lovers and FarmVille fans in innovative and engaging ways on their very own farms starting tomorrow,” Globe said.
DreamWorks and Zynga said the collaboration will last for 24 hours.
Zynga claims more than 225 million monthly active users of its games, which include “Mafia Wars,” “Treasure Isle,” “Zynga Poker,” “Cafe World,” “FishVille” and “PetVille” in addition to “FarmVille.” – AFP
