The executive’s resume also includes stints at Internet Solutions (being a key figure behind the ISLabs initiative) and being involved in Vottle.com.
The news comes as Uber enjoys brisk growth in the country. Earlier this year, Lits claimed that South Africa was seeing faster growth than in many other countries.
Lits claimed that South Africa was the first nation outside the USA to have Uber in three cities simultaneously.
“In a short space of time, we’re doing tens of thousands of trips per day, with thousands of drivers on our system. South Africa is a really great example of Uber’s growth in a marketplace. In 2014 we helped facilitate more than one million trips and doubled that number in the first half of 2015,” he said at the time.
