Racy, romantic or drunk dialler: What your phone says about you
It seems Android is trying to overtake iPhone in every way possible. A recent survey from Match.com says that Android users are quick to get a little action, reports Venturebeat.
The online dating service revealed that Android users are more likely to have sex on the first date than iPhone or BlackBerry users. It arrived at the results after running a survey on a sample of 1 068 Canadians.
Kimberly Moffit, Match.com’s “Relationship Insider” and psychotherapist, said the survey shouldn’t be taken too seriously, though it can give insight into people’s dating habits.
“As a psychotherapist, if somebody walked into my office for a psychological assessment (I wouldn’t) take a look at their phone and say, ‘Oh, wow, you must be this or you must be that’. This is just a fun tidbit of information,” said Moffit.
Here is a breakdown of the survey by smartphone:
iPhone Users: The Office Romantic
- iPhone addicts are the most likely to date someone in their workplace. Nearly a quarter of iPhone singles have had an office romance in the last five years.
- After a first date, iPhone users wait just one day to reach out, while Android or BlackBerry users will wait until after 2-3 dates.
BlackBerry Users: The Drunk Dialler
- If you’re dating a BlackBerry fan, prepare to imbibe. BlackBerry users are most likely to drink alcohol on a first date — 72% will have a boozy beverage on the first night out.
- A whopping 67 percent of BlackBerry users say they have experienced love at first sight.
Android Users: The Seducer
- Android users are most likely to be seduced on a first date. 62% of Android singles say they’ve done the deed after date number one, compared to 57% of iPhone users and 48% of BlackBerry users.
- Out of all smart phone users, Android fans are most likely to have a one-night stand (55%).
- 72% of Android fans have visited an online dating site, compared to 58% of iPhone users and 50 percent of Blackberry users.
Though this data comes from Canada, so it may not necessarily be consistent with the rest of the world, something still has to be said for the findings. Maybe Android users just don’t take themselves too seriously, or maybe iPhone users take forever to close, and BlackBerry users are too busy BBMing to actually get any action.
A similar survey two years ago from another online dating site, OKCupid, reported that iPhone users were more sexually active with Android trailing in third place after BlackBerry. How the times have changed.
If you take the recent mobile device stats into consideration, most of the world is racy as Android is the most popular OS right now.
My question however is, are Android users loose, or are they actually just using dating sites more than iPhone and BlackBerry users?
