Apple had ‘record weekend’ with new iPad
Despite Apple insisting it would not talk about anything other than cash during today’s conference call, one analyst did manage to slip in a question about how well the new iPad did on opening weekend.
The answer, apparently, was pretty damn well.
Without going into specifics, CEO Tim Cook said the company had “had a record weekend and we are thrilled with it.”
According to TheNextWeb, searches for the new iPad already account for five percent of internet traffic from all models of iPad in the US.
If the new iPad continues to sell at record pace, then it could well beat out the 156 000 units sold a day in the first 80 days after the iPad 2’s launch.
The company isn’t usually when it comes to sharing performance figures, so expect some sort of announcement in the near future.
