Google+ follows Facebook, Twitter’s lead, introduces embedded posts

Google+

Google+ continues to integrate with the web, and soon many will have the social network of the internet behemoth Google plastered across their favourite sites. Just like a Twitter or Facebook post, it’s now possible to embed public Google+ posts on your own website and it’s quite easy. Here is a ferocious example:

This is also a cool way of subtly advertising Google+ as it will now be embedded in articles across the web. Even though Google+ has surpassed Twitter in user numbers, many people in the mainstream still think of it as something of an internet “ghost town.” Hopefully this new feature will amend that.

The new embeds also allow you to do everything you can when viewing a post on Google+ including the ability to +1 a post, comment on it or even follow the author who wrote it.

It should be noted though that Google+ will require users to embed more code than Twitter or Facebook though, but not by much.

Embedding public Google+ posts on your own website is quite easy:

  1. Navigate to a public post
  2. Open the options menu (arrow in top right corner)
  3. Choose embed post
  4. Copy and paste the embed code onto your website.
  5. Done!
