If you’re a Windows Phone user, you’re probably used to being a little behind some of the bigger mobile trends. Twitter’s latest update to its Windows Phone app should however leave you feeling a little bit better about life.

The update is one of the more extensive ones Twitter for Windows Phone has had so far, and includes a number of new features that will be pretty much immediately noticeable to users. In an official blog post, the social network outlines what you can expect from the new version.

Included in the update is the ability to make photos and tweets the background on your lockscreen, an extra few languages and some improvements to search and discovery.

The last of these is the most visible change, with Twitter saying that it allows you to find “more relevant information”. According to the social network, search results will now show photos, videos, and accounts, along with tweets, something it says will “help you find the what is most interesting to you. Discover will also show recommended accounts to follow, trending topics, and activity happening in your network”.

Another tweak that will suit Windows Phone fans and goths alike means that you can switch to “dark” mode “to fit your mood, lighting or preference”.

Perhaps the most exciting news to come with the update though, is a sign that Twitter’s video-sharing app Vine could be coming to Windows Phone soon.

The Next Web reports that when the update first went live on the Windows Phone store, the screengrabs accompanying it included the Vine icon.

The image has since been pulled, but it should offer a glimmer of hope for any Windows Phone users left jealous by their friends’ ability to make and easily share short 6 second videos. Now, if only Instagram would follow suit.
