Social media networks

If you already have a few social media channels, you most likely have seen spammers trying their best to lure in people to their products. Spammers are constantly pitching their services and products with a few words in their updates with a link back to their website. This is not the way to go about with marketing your business via social media.

The social web is a way to cultivate online communities. Your goal with your social media campaign should be to build and make friendships online, not pushing out what you are selling rudely on someone’s profile. Remember, it doesn’t matter what anyone says, quality over quantity is the key with any successful social media campaign. Find below a couple of tips how you can focus on quality with your social campaign.

Keep your campaign human
This really doesn’t mean that you should make all your personal information available online. Keep your campaign semi-professional because most of the time someone will buy into you before they actually buy into what you are offering. Keep your tweets and updates engaging and interesting. Start up a few conversations to get the ball rolling, both on a professional and personal level.

Use targeted keywords
Using keywords in your status updates and content that you share is very important for search engine optimisation (SEO) and how people find you on the social media channels that you are using. Not sure what SEO exactly is?

In a nutshell — your SEO strategy will determine how people find you when they are searching for keywords and key phrases on Google. Even if you are not busy with an SEO campaign, use a couple of keywords in your status updates and posts. You can also use other keywords that best describes your business and what you are doing. It’s all about relevancy.

Reference other relevant content sources
It is really not only about you and what you are doing. When you share content or post a status update, link to other content sources that are related to your business.

With this said, when you post interesting and engaging content on your blog and website, or just a status update, others might link to your content increasing your reach. This is much like networking and it can spread the word about your business and increase your network of followers.

Update consistently
Regular updates on your social media channels can be used to increase your reach and to build your social media presence on the social web. Whether you are posting 10 updates a day or only one, try to keep your presence consistent. With social media, always focus on quality over quantity.
