Want the new Star Wars lightsaber? You can now 3D print it
If there was any aspect of the recently released Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser trailer that caused real controversy, it was the cross-guard lightsaber. It’s inspired plenty of memes as well as some pretty deep analysis. Given the saga’s history of merchandising, it also seems pretty likely that you’ll be able to buy various incarnations of it by the time the film comes out.
If you can’t wait that long though, you could always 3D print your own version. That’s what a group of designers called Le FabShop decided to do.

“As Makers”, the group says, “we couldn’t help but try to find out by ourselves if this “crossguard” design was a good configuration or not… So we decided to build one, with our army of 3D printers”.
It actually went a little further than that though, making a fully customisable light-saber which it claims makes hundreds of configurations possible, ranging from Yoda’s lightsaber to Darth Maul’s.
