Meet Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad
If you’re a fan of complex, multi-film cinematic universes, there’s never been a better time to be alive really. With Marvel currently king of the format, Disney’s Star Wars universe and DC’s Justice League equivalent are doing everything they can to catch up.
The latest news to come out of the DC camp comes in the shape of a couple of tweets from Suicide Squad director David Ayer. Having already revealed what Jared Leto’s Joker will look like, Ayer today tweeted out photos of the rest of the Suicide Squad, including Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang.
The film is a kind of bad guy origin story for The Joker and his gang, and is part of DC’s attempt to create a complete Justice League universe within the space of just a few films.
As The Verge notes, Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel was the first in the series, while Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is expected to open up the floodgates for a whole host of Justice League characters, including Superman, Batman, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman.
There’s a heck of a lot riding on these two films then, given that they form the base of a tower of films DC and Warner Bros have planned from now until 2020.
The Suicide Squad characters, from left to right, are: Slipknot (Adam Beach), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), and El Diablo (Jay Hernandez).
