Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, is back and this time, he’s not American. For the first time in 12 years, original production house Toho is creating a new Godzilla movie
Resurgence is reported to be a reboot of the Japanese Godzilla movies, which has already been through a few reboots. The last Godzilla movie released by Toho was Godzilla: Final Wars in 2004.
The trailer doesn’t give too much away, but we at least see the Goliath stomping around Tokyo and being attacked by humans to no avail.
While the Legendary Pictures movie (and the horrendous 2008 movie) was showered in CGI effects, expect a return to form with more practical visuals, such as a man in a rubber suit. Godzilla does look very… volcanic in design. It may sound silly, but when has Godzilla ever been serious?
The film is expected to release on 29 July in Japan, but no Western release has been confirmed.
