Facebook Messenger on Windows 10 now boasts voice, video calls
Facebook Messenger’s Windows 10 app has now gained the ability to place voice and video calls.
Much like Messenger on Android and iOS, the green chat icon will begin to glow green when the other user is active, letting you know that you’re able to call them immediately.
Unlike the apps though, you’re not able to set reminders or send messages during an incoming call. Windows 10’s native desktop notification however will notify you of an incoming call.
Facebook Messenger’s Windows 10 app is slowly gaining parity with its iOS, Android cousins
If your call happens to not be answered, you do have the option of leaving a voicemail much like you can on other platforms.
According to VentureBeat, Messenger accounts for nearly 10% of VoIP calls globally. Enabling support for one of the world’s most commonly used desktop operating systems’ app bouquet only makes sense for Facebook.
Although this feature makes the Windows 10 version of Facebook Messenger more useful, it still has its restrictions. For now, the app only allows users to initiate group voice calls and not group video calls as yet.
