This crazy Bedfordview hijacking video has gone viral on SA YouTube
A new clip published to YouTube this week shows just how dangerous parking your car in South Africa can be. The clip in question documents an attempted hijacking in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, and it looks like it could be a deleted scene in Taken.
A Mercedes driver pulls into a driveway in the suburb, and is greeted by a security guard. But it soon gets a little bit too real.
A blue Volkswagen Golf pulls up behind the Mercedes, drops off a passenger, and promptly pulls away. The passenger, seemingly innocuous at first, pulls out a gun, causing the security guard to scamper.
An attempted hijacking in Bedfordview quickly takes a turn when the victim pulls out a gun of his own
While the video is lacking a distinct number of pixels, the Mercedes driver then pulls out a gun of his own, and fires a few shots of his own. The criminal is taken aback, and retreats in quite a strange change of heart.
All this unfolds in just over a minute.
The clip was posted to YouTube by relatively unknown channel SB Times on 29 January, and was soon picked up by Police Pics And Clips. Collectively, the video has accrued over 50 000 views, and is currently topping YouTube’s trending list in South Africa.
There’s no doubting why, really.
