The Circle: Hermione Granger, Finn FN-2187 star in creepy trailer

Harry Potter‘s Emma Watson, Star Wars: The Force Awaken‘s John Boyega, Doctor Who‘s Karen Gillan and just straight-up Tom Hanks all star in James Ponsoldt’s The Circle, and a trailer is finally here.

The Circle, set for release on 28 April, is based on the eponymous novel by Dave Eggers that follows Mae (Emma Watson), a recent college graduate who gets offered a job at The Circle — a leading tech company headed by Eamon Bailey (Tom Hanks). As the company releases surveillance technology that would have George Orwell rolling in his grave, Mae is forced to choose between the values of her company, her loved ones, and herself.

The film comes at a perfect time: right after Black Mirror’s third season brought with it the recognition it deserves, and right in the middle of its hiatus. So if you’re craving that “technology is evil, it will kill us all” fix, mark your calendars now!

The Circle’s trailer has debuted just in time to feed off Black Mirror’s ‘technology is evil’ mantra

It’s difficult to think of another film that pulls together so many big names from sci-fi and fantasy into something that will cater to every kind of fan there is — which wouldn’t even matter because everyone is a fan of Tom Hanks anyway.

As for the trailer itself, it has garnered over 240 000 views within its first two days on YouTube, and boasts a remarkably favourable like-to-dislike ratio.

If you need to take a moment for all of your faves to collide, now is the time to do it. I’m certainly not judging you.
