South Africans on Twitter seemed mostly excited about the prospect of another royal wedding — and likely the last for a while, considering Prince William’s eldest son is only four.

Others were excited at the prospect of Markle becoming the the first biracial person to marry into the British royal family — that above being the first American, and first actress. Some even had wedding dresses in mind.
Stanning for Megan Markle up in that palace! Prince Harry successfully shaking things up in the royal family hehe.

But other South Africans are nonplussed about the ordeal, largely because of the British monarchy’s history of colonial rule.
Black people who are caught up in this excitement of prince harry and the Royal wedding, have you guys forgotten the 400+ years of slavery and the role this family played in it??? Personally idgaf about this wedding 👎👎

Sure Robert Mugabe ruled for 37 years but what about the Queen of England how is she still in power and living off the spoils of colonialism and no-one says anything and YAY ANOTHER ROYAL WEDDING.

And some mourned the loss of Day One Crush, Prince Harry. May Eligible Bad Boy Bachelor Harry live long in our hearts.
I can’t believe Prince Harry is getting married. I’ve had a crush on him since Grade 2 when I saw him on CNN 💔
