You could soon control Spotify on iOS through Apple’s Siri
A report by The Information on Tuesday revealed that Apple may soon allow Spotify users to access the music streaming app via Siri.
According to unnamed sources, the two companies are discussing the tweak, which will allow iOS users to ask the virtual assistant to play music from Spotify.
Currently, Siri only plays music from Apple Music, suggesting anti-competitive behavior from the Cupertino-based company.
The option will certainly help iOS users get the full experience from their preferred music app, but an agreement isn’t expected any time soon.
At its developer conference earlier this year, Apple announced that iOS 13 will improve SiriKit for developers, “bringing all new support for audio content playback”.
The news also comes at a time when Apple and Spotify are perhaps not considered the best of friends. Both are currently embroiled in an anti-trust battle.
iOS 13 will launch later this year.
