Facebook is testing a new Instagram app called ‘Threads’
A new messaging app called Threads is being developed by Facebook and planned for Instagram, a report by The Verge revealed on Monday.
According to the publication, Threads gives Instagram users on “close friends” lists the opportunity to share photos, videos, and messages with each other, as well as constant updates about battery life, location, and speed.
Screenshots show that the app, which keeps users connected through “threads” of information, gives you the option to “let your phone set your status for you” based on changes in where you are and what you’re doing.
Threads shares a likeliness to Snapchat, where users can maintain “streaks” by constantly sharing information with each other.
Instagram’s been reworked by Facebook in recent months to better appeal to those in online friendship circles, adding voice messages and online status notifications among other features.
The app is currently being tested internally.
