Now even your granny can use and hear Amazon Alexa

Amazon Alexa

Amazon is making Alexa more accessible to its older customers by updating the assistant with two slower speaking rates.

“Some of our hard of hearing and older customers shared how they love talking to Alexa and how she has become a companion but sometimes they would like her to slow down so they can better understand her responses,” the company revealed on Wednesday.

Users can simply say “Alexa, speak slower” and the assistant will adjust its speech speed accordingly.

The assistant can also speak up to three times faster too, and this is aimed at “blind or low vision” users who are more accustomed to faster speech.

To set her back to default, all you have to say is “Alexa, speak at your default rate”.

Amazon further noted that it was “humbled” by the response from several older testers who got early access to the feature.

The speaking rate feature is currently available in the United States.
