At a SpaceX event this past weekend, CEO Elon Musk revealed new details surrounding the company’s upcoming space transportation vehicle Starship, along with a 50m tall prototype of the spaceship.
With a name taken straight out of a sci-fi movie, Starship will be a “rapidly reusable transportation system designed to carry both crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars, and anywhere else in the solar system”.
Starship will also carry people and cargo over to the Moon or other planets, where humans might eventually set up new settlements.
“Ultimately, Starship will carry as many as 100 people on long-duration, interplanetary flights,” SpaceX said in a tweet.

Several Raptor rocket engines designed by SpaceX will power the ship as well.
According to Elon Musk, the prototype ship’s first test flight will take place in about six months.
The final ship’s mission in 2023 is set to carry “artists representing the Earth” to the Moon, including billionaire Yusaku Maezawa.
