Google Assistant gets an ‘Ambient Mode’ for smart devices and Nokia phones
Google on Thursday revealed a new Ambient Mode for several smart home devices and phones supported by its Google Assistant.
“Google Assistant’s Ambient Mode is a new visual overview that makes it easier to see notifications and reminders, start a playlist and control smart home devices on the lock screen of your device,” the company explained on its blog.
When active, the mode displays easily accessible apps and tools you may need even when you’re not using your device. Afterwards, Ambient Mode turns your device into a digital photo frame with pictures from your Google Photos account.
The company previously revealed the live photo frame feature on the Lenovo Smart Clock in August.
According to Google, Ambient mode will be available on the Lenovo Smart Tab M8 HD and Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab, as well as the Nokia 7.2 and 6.2 when all the devices launch.
