Instagram is killing the underused and super creepy ‘following’ activity tab
Instagram is doing away with its “following” activity tab, a feature that allows you to see your followers activity on the platform.
The invasive tab, which shows you what your followers are liking and commenting on, was previously implemented to help users discover new content on Instagram.
Since the introduction of the Explore feed, however, the following tab has become redundant and underused.
In a report by Buzzfeed on Monday, Instagram’s head of product, Vishal Shah, confirmed that most users didn’t even know the feature was there to begin with.
“Simplicity was the driving factor,” he told the publication.
The company, which is reportedly testing a new Group Story feature, will begin removing the tab this week.
