Instagram’s working on a ‘Group Story’ feature
Instagram is reportedly testing a Group Story feature that will allow multiple users to share posts on a single Story thread.
Screenshots posted by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong last week suggest that the upcoming feature will involve group chats on Instagram Direct.
After setting up a group chat, users can then send their Story posts directly to that group chat’s story for all members to see.
Unlike the platform’s close friends feature, which allows you to share your Stories with a select group of people, it seems Group Stories will involve posts from everyone in the group.
This means you and your friends could soon collaborate on an Instagram Story.
The screenshots do not explain if the Group Story will be visible to people outside the group.
Instagram also announced the launch of Threads last week, a new standalone app for Stories among close friends on the platform.
