‘Superstar’ Trevor Noah has been nominated for a 2020 Grammy Award
The 62nd Grammy Awards nominations are out and, among some of the biggest names in the music industry, South Africa’s very own Trevor Noah is in the running for Best Comedy Album.
The names were officially announced on Wednesday, two months before the show is set to air in 2020, revealing the comedian and Daily Show host’s nomination following the release of his Netflix stand-up special Son of Patricia.
“Today I woke up to the news that I’ve been nominated for a Grammy Award!!! I’m so grateful,” the comedian tweeted in response to the news.

Even the South African Government congratulated the comedian, calling him a “superstar”.

Meanwhile, Ellen DeGeneres, Aziz Ansari, Dave Chappelle and Jim Gaffigan were also nominated in the Comedy category for their recent stand-up specials as well.
Other names dominating the list of nominations in 84 categories include Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X and H.E.R.
