Google Trips is Google’s nifty dedicated travel app
Google Now already delivers a bunch of features for travellers, but the Mountain View company is upping the ante in a big way with the launch of Google Trips.
The new app serves as a hub for travel information, offering trip details from your Gmail account and taking the form of Google Now style cards. So that means you have a card dedicated to your upcoming Johannesburg trip, for instance.
Tap the card and you’ll get a ton more details to check out, such as reservations, things to do, saved places from Google Maps, day plan options, food and drink choices and transport information.
Google Trips also serves up a rather fun visual history of past trips
In a rather cool (but somewhat freaky) move, the app also collates your past trips, using your old booking emails to serve up a travel history of sorts. The only downside is that the app doesn’t pull information from Google Photos for these past trips.
Don’t have any trips lined up just yet? Google Trips also lets you browse info cards for over 200 cities, using the search bar at the top of the app.
Google Trips is available for Android and iOS as a free app.
