Twitter Lite launches in 5 more African countries
It’s been more than a year since Twitter Lite launched in a select number of countries, including South Africa.
Today, the social network announced that its lightweight Android app is heading to 21 more countries, five of which are in Africa.
Said African nations receiving the app includes Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Uganda and Zimbabwe. This brings the total number of countries to 46.

Twitter Lite “is a faster, data friendly way for people to use Twitter to see what’s happening in the world”, the company explained in a tweet back in April 2017.
The app also features a number of data friendly features, including a data saver mode and a storage footprint of less than 1 MB. A number of other Twitter app features are also present, including threaded tweets, push notifications and a night mode.
In addition to the aforementioned African nations, Twitter Lite is now also available in the following countries:

- Dominican Republic
- Guatemala

- India
- Indonesia
- Jordan
- Lebanon
- Nicaragua
- Paraguay
- Romania
- Turkey
