Instagram notifications are coming to web browsers, the Lite app
Browsing Instagram on a web browser isn’t the most refined tech experience one can enjoy, but at least it’s getting better. Slowly.
Spotted by Android Police, Instagram will notify users browsing the social network on a web browser when others like or follow them.
You know, like the app.
Of course, users will need to be logged in to the social network, and you’ll probably have to allow notifications on your respective browser too.
The feature has been confirmed to work on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Apple’s Safari browsers.
Notably, this addition comes after Instagram Lite — which is effectively a single-page web browser — received notification support earlier this week.
The Lite app hasn’t yet been rolled out globally by the social network.
While not revolutionary for those who rely on Instagram’s proper app, it’s great news for those using slower smartphones, or simply don’t want to have Facebook apps installed on their devices.
