Google brings 4K upgrades to Google Play Movies & TV
Google has revealed upgrades for Google Play Movies & TV that will allow users in the US and Canada to watch content in 4K.
According to the announcement, all movies you have already bought will now be streamed in 4K — that is four times the resolution of Full HD — while you can buy new titles in 4K at lower prices.
“We think watching in 4K should be a no brainer, so we’re continuously working to make that a reality,” the company explained.
Google also noted that it’s working on support for the Google Play Movies and TV app on more Smart TV devices.
“In addition to 4K Sony Bravia TVs, you can now watch in 4K using the Play Movies & TV app on most 4K Samsung Smart TVs, and we’re working on adding support for LG as well.”
The app is also mentioned to have a new, “modern” look.
“With Google Play, it’s now easier than ever for you to watch movies in the best quality possible, no matter which device you’re using.”
