FNB credit, debit cards now support Samsung Pay

Samsung Pay debuted in South Africa in August 2018 and initially only worked with Absa and Standard Bank cards.

This isn’t FNB’s first foray into contactless payments though. The bank also supports Fitbit Pay and Garmin Pay, which was launched in South Africa just days before Samsung’s offering.
FNB also allows users to use its app, if a Samsung, Fitbit or Garmin device isn’t owned by the consumer.
“FNB remains the only bank in Africa to allow customers to make contactless payments via any compatible Android smartphone, using FNB Pay on the FNB App,” Jason Viljoen, head of FNB’s digital payments noted in a release.
“The bank’s support for Samsung Pay, coupled with the recent launch of the new Scan to Pay feature on the FNB App, provides its customers with even more choice when it comes to digital payments.”
To use Samsung Pay, you’ll need a compatible Samsung smartphone, the Pay app, and an FNB credit or cheque card.
