Spotify’s Premium Duo option pays for two users under one subscription
Spotify on Thursday launched a premium tier-for-two option called Spotify Duo, which will give two users their own Premium accounts under a single subscription.
“With two separate accounts you can both enjoy your own music without having to take turns,” the company said on its website.
Premium Duo also features Duo Mix, a playlist catered to the music taste of both account holders.
“It comes preloaded with songs based on genres, artists, and songs that you both have played on your own and updates the more you play,” Spotify explained.
The new tier costs €12.49 a month, placing it between the
€9.99 Premium, and Premium for Family which starts at
€14.99 and allows for up to six people.
In South Africa, Spotify Premium will cost you R59.99 while Duo or the family options are not yet available.
When asked for comment, Spotify South Africa simply stated: “We don’t currently have Spotify Family and Spotify Premium Duo available at the moment”.
