Google offers replacements for bug-affected BLE Titan Security Keys
Google on Wednesday revealed that there is a bug affecting its Bluetooth Titan Security Keys in the United States.
The bug, which only affects Bluetooth enabled security keys, allows potential attackers to communicate with the key or the device it is connected too.
Google noted that this is only possible when the attacker is “physically close to you at the moment you use your security key”.
The company will be providing replacement keys to resolve the issue, but also suggested users take steps to ensure they are safe from any attacks.
On Android and iOS 12.2 devices and older, Google suggests you use the key in a safe private location about 10 meters away from any other person.
Once you sign in, the company recommends you unpair your security key.
“Once you update to iOS 12.3, your affected security key will no longer work. You will not be able to use your affected key to sign into your Google Account,” the company explained on its security bog.
The company is offering all current Bluetooth Low Energy Titan Security Key owners free replacement keys.
