Google Chrome could soon get a browser-wide media play-pause button

Google is testing a media play button for its Chrome browser, a report by ZDNet on Saturday revealed. The button will allow users to pause and play multimedia within any tab directly from their browsers’ toolbar.
According to the publication, the feature is called “Global Media Controls” and can stop or resume media on multiple Chrome tabs.
Currently, users can only enable or disable audio on buttons located on individual tabs. This also makes finding that one tab playing audio in a sea of 20 or more becomes a real challenge. The new button aims to make this chore a little easier.
The report also noted that the button affects music and video, and appears to the right of the URL bar.
Chrome has not indicated when the feature, described as “buggy” by testers, will reach users.
