You can now listen to and search for podcasts within Google Search
If you want to listen to podcasts but don’t subscribe to any audio-streaming services, Google’s got you covered. The company on Friday revealed that you can now use Search to find podcasts on certain topics.
“We’ll surface these episodes based on Google’s understanding of what’s being talked about on a podcast, so you can find even more relevant information about a topic in audio form,” Google said on its blog.
Tapping on an episode takes you to a Google Podcasts page, where you’ll be able to play the podcast, or read its description.
“As part of our work to help podcasters build audiences and grow their businesses, we’ll soon add the ability for publishers to specify where you can listen to their podcasts,” the company further noted.
This means that you might encounter a paywall or two when searching for certain podcasts on Google in the future.
According to Google, the feature will first roll out to English users in the United States. The podcast feature will also be expanding to Google Assistant and Google Podcasts later this year.
