With youth unemployment above 60 percent, South Africa is betting on digital skills to drive inclusive growth. Here is how MICT SETA is positioning the next generation for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
WhatsApp Business lets customers browse service and product catalogues
As promised earlier this year, WhatsApp Business will now feature catalogues to help customers find products and services from businesses directly on the platform.
“Catalogues are a mobile storefront for businesses to showcase and share their goods so people can easily browse and discover something they would like to buy,” WhatsApp explained on its blog.
Users can view catalogues on a business’s profile via WhatsApp, where they can scroll through a list of images describing what’s on offer.
“This makes business owners look more professional and keeps customers engaged in the chat without having to visit a website,” WhatsApp further said.
Catalogued items can also feature product codes and price tags too, and are stored on WhatsApp’s servers to minimise storage usage.
Business can add catalogues from their camera roll or gallery through the mobile WhatsApp Business app under “Business settings”.
The feature is now available on the latest version of WhatsApp Business for both iOS and Android in a few countries, including the US, UK, Germany, India and Brazil.
