Lady Gaga racks up record 10 million followers on Twitter
As much as we may scoff and scorn, it seems nothing will hold back pop diva Lady Gaga. Adding yet another social-networking accolade to her mantle, Gaga has become the first person with more than 10-million followers on Twitter.
Gaga is more than a popstar, she is now a one-person media company — with similar broadcasting power to many media companies around the world.
Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) was also the first person to ever reach 10-million fans on Facebook, and reach one-billion views on YouTube for her last original piece of work, her smash-hit single Born This Way.
The most followed users on Twitter after the self-proclaimed Lady are pop mega-star and general irritant to those over the age of 15, Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) with over 9.6million follower. Coming in for bronze medal in the Twitter dash for followers was US President, Barack Obama (@BarackObama) with just over 8million followers.
Rounding out the top five were even more celebrities.
Britney Spears (@britneyspears) who at once was the most followed person on Twitter now languishes in 4th place with a paltry 7.8million followers.
And fittingly bringing up the rear of the top 5, was television personality more famous for her well padded posterior rather than having any actual talent, Kim Kardashian (@KimKardashian), with 7.4million followers.
If you can stomach discovering what it is we collectively as the human-race believe is worthy of our interest, the list of the top 100 followed Twitter accounts can be found here.
