Phandroids, meet your dream bar accessory: KegDroid [Video]
Hey, are you geek who loves beer? Do you ever wish you could combine the two aspects of your personality? Well one Googler named Paul Karff might just have the perfect product for you.
It’s called the KegDroid and it lets you select and pour beer from a couple of Kegs using an Android tablet.
Okay, that’s might actually complicate things a little and the lay-person might find all the wires and gadgetry behind KegDroid a little confusing.
The real genius behind the device lies in its ability to stop freeloaders stealing your precious amber liquid. If you want to pour yourself a drink, you first have to swipe an NFC enabled card (the video does state that you could easily mod it to work with RFID chips if you wanted to), verifying that you have access to the KegDroid.
The likelihood of a competing Apple iKeg is small. If anything, the Cupertino-based tech giant would more likely build some form of imported coffee-roasting device that only recognises beans you’ve searched for on your Mac or iPhone.
