Eyewitness footage emerges of Boston Marathon explosions
The Boston Globe has released eyewitness footage of the explosions which today rocked the city’s famous marathon.
The bombs, which went off among the crowd of spectators near the race’s finish line are believed to have killed at least two people and injured dozens of others.
The amateur footage shows a steady stream of runners still crossing the finish line as the explosions went off as well as the reactions of police. The video does also show glimpses of bodies lying prone behind the spectator barriers.
Within minutes of news of the explosions reaching the outside world, prayforboston became the top trending topic on Twitter.
Authorities meanwhile shut down cellular networks, believing that mobile devices using the networks could be used to trigger any further bombs. In a bid to help manage confusion in the aftermath of the bombings, Google has rolled out a special version of its Person Finder service
