Sony reveals new NXT Android smartphones — Xperia U, P, S
Sony, recently freed from its cumbersome Ericsson union, has announced two new and delightfully shiny Xperias, namely the Xperia P, and Xperia U. The Xperia S was unveiled earlier this month and is now shipping globally.
The Mobile World Congress, itself a hotbed of new ideas and devices, saw Sony revealing its first new range of NXT Android smartphones.
The Xperia S is known to us. The Xperia P, not so much. The P comes with a lithe aluminium unibody design and “Reality Display” which promises “wider viewing angles in bright light”.
Included with the new NFC capable Xperia P is an 8MP camera which shoots 1080p video. The Xperia P has a 1Ghz CPU, 16GB of storage, and comes in three finishes — silver, black and red.
The Xperia U reveals a little more of Sony’s magic. It’s a dual-core 1Ghz mobile with a 3.5-inch Reality Display and a 5MP camera. Both phones are scheduled for second quarter 2012.
Will the new Xperias run Android 4.0? How much will the phones cost? Sony has yet to reveal these juicy titbits. For now, enjoy the images of the Xperia U, S and P.
