5 Awesome apps for St. Paddy’s Day

St. Paddy’s Day approaches and the gadget-loving beast that lurks inside every one of us demands to be fed. Accompany your Paddy’s Day drinking session with these 100%-alcohol free apps and marvel at the ridiculous gadgets associated with drinking.

Drinking Apps

Drinking Games Free

Best get the party started with this gem. We all know a few drinking games but Drinking games Free knows more — 150 more than you most likely do. It’s pretty simple to navigate the app and the games are filled with new and old favourites alike. Give it a bash, just don’t bash your phone in when it’s used for an impromptu game of “spin the iPhone”. Seriously, don’t.

iBeer

This app is what many would call a severe waste of time. I call it having a laugh with your mates. Look, if you’re drunk, you’re going to bugger around with your phone and drinking a virtual beer is a fine method of messing about. You select your tipple, the glass fills with virtual beer, you “drink” as you would a normal beverage and the beer vanishes. Good, clean fun.

Guinness Pub Finder

This is an insanely handy app for either US or UK Android and iPhone owners. The app searches through a database of 20 000-plus pubs, plus delivers “useful” pub facts and a “Know your Pint” section that teaches the user how to pour the perfect pint of Guinness. A special app, for a special day (of hangovers and drunk dialling).

Beer Match

Matching beer to food, this sounds like the right app for a beer drinking festival. Which beer goes with your apple pie, steak and chips or bag of pretzels? Beer Match holds the answer and has paired 31 styles of beer with over 500 food types.

Drink Fit

Want to know how fat your drink is making you? I mean, we don’t, but each to his own. We prefer to live in blissful drinking ignorance, where every glass of whiskey lowers blood pressure and every pint of beer adds a six pack. DrinkFit is designed for those unfortunate few who live in the real world. Each type of drink (over 1 600) is listed with nutritional information such as ideal serving size.

Bonus Round — Drunken gadgets

The less said about drinking gadgets, the better. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

The Bevburry

Heineken Beertender

The Beer PC(why?)

Intoxicase

Now this is worth talking about. It’s an iPhone case/bottle opener which combines with an app to tell you how many bottles have been opened. Thanks to the magic of social media, you can even update how much you’ve been drinking on Facebook and Twitter. The app hints at caution as well, letting you call a cab service once the delights of alcohol become too much.
