Asus WL-330NUL is ‘world’s smallest USB wireless router’
It was mentioned (albeit very briefly) in the official Asus press release (translated) for CES 2013, and during the show it went almost unnoticed. With such a small size, it was bound to. But the Asus WL-330NUL is the smallest wireless router yet at 65mm in length, weighs less than an ounce, is pocket-sized and allows you to use it on-the-go without power and plugs and wires lying around.
Looking a lot like a normal flash drive, it is billed as the world’s smallest full wireless network sharing router. With a single Ethernet port, it supports 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz WiFi when used in a conventional USB 3.0 port, with support for USB 2.0 as well. Plug in a cable from your modem or from any wired connection, like at a hotel, into the Ethernet port and use this tiny router to wirelessly share the connection with other devices. Being so small, it will probably not have massive capabilities in the strength of its wireless signal (its pocket-sized after all), but could prove very useful to quickly connect to devices in the immediate surrounding area.
It is set for a 14 February release, yet is already available on the Expansys website for pre-order. There is no mention of price yet, so the pre-order is more likely to be a “reserving” order, and a buyer would most likely be able to cancel the order.
