Nvidia Project SHIELD now costs a lean $299, releases 27 June

Nvidia’s entry into the console race, Project SHIELD, is coming 27 June 2013 for the lower price of US$300. Project Shield originally cost US$350 and is a pc-cum-handheld Android super device that runs console quality (if not better) games on its diminutive frame.

Yet Nvidia’s opened up to us and lowered the price because “We want to get SHIELD into the hands of as many gamers as possible.” Bless them. It’s all based on feedback from the gaming community who’ve even helped to shape the physical nature of Shield itself. From user feedback, Nvidia have given the triggers on Shield the perfect throw length (maximum distance the triggers and arc), buttons have the right give and that the thumbsticks are as “satisfying to flick” as possible.

It gets better for those who’ve preordered as they’ll also pay the new price of US$299. While we’re waiting for the 27 June release for Shield, the video below perfectly encapsulates the power behind this very promising device.
