Archos unveils cheap Neon tablets with pure Android Jelly Bean

Don’t you just love cheap Android tablets? For those who do, feel free to rejoice. Archos today unveiled three new Neon tablets. All three Android tablets, ranging in different sizes, have similar insides and are comfortably loyal to Jelly Bean.

All three Archos Neon tablets are powered by 1.4GHz or 1.6GHz Mali 400 quad-core processors. The Archos 90 Neon sports a 9″ 800×480 display, 97 Neon has a 9.7″ 1024×768, and the 10.1″ 101 Neon fits the same 1024×600 screen. See the clever naming pattern?

Furthermore, all of them have 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage with the expandable storage option of 64GB with a dedicated microSD slot. The 97 Neon has a 2 MP rear camera, while all of them carry front cams and are Wi-Fi only.

The Archos Neon includes dedicated wireless display streaming which means that it will have a pre-installed button that can mirror the display of your tablet onto the HD screen of your wireless display compatible TV.

The spec listing is nothing to write home about in itself but will house the full suite of pre-installed Google apps, with dedicated access to the Play Store of course. Furthermore, while the Neon range debuts a slightly older version of Android, Jelly Bean will be pure, “without any skins or overlays that could slow down the system,” the product description reads.

While pricing is yet to be announced, they are likely to make the cheap extremely cheerful. Around this time last year, Archos unveiled the ridiculously cheap Titanium 70 tablet range. The Neon range is no different, and the three of those would cost you around the same a 16GB iPad Air would.
