Is this the Game of Thrones video game we all so desperately crave?

Game of Thrones was always going to get a video game spin-off sometime in the future and we first heard of this possibility in 2013. Thanks to it’s mega television success and cultural buzz, the literary series has become something of a social phenomenon. But we weren’t expecting to see it for quite a while.

Over the weekend, some lovely bloke tweeted an album of screenshots purportedly taken from Telltale’s upcoming George R.R. Martin inspired title.

The independent digital publisher has previously created episodic games based on The Walking Dead, the Borderlands series and a the comic book series Fables. This is just to mention a few.

This album wasn’t released by Telltale though, so chances are these could be fake, or really early snapshots snuck out of the studio late at night.

The self-proclaimed “XBLA watchdog” known on Twitter as lifelower, is the original source of the images, but thankfully French PS4 themed website PS4France republished them before they we’re taken down.

Whether or not the photies are original or not, Telltale did divulge some interesting information on the title’s plot recently, saying that players will visit familiar locations like King’s Landing and The Wall, as well as unfamiliar ones such as Ironrath, the home of House Forrester — a new addition to Westeros.

Centered around this northern house and its stronghold, the original plot goes as follows:

You will play the game from five different points of view. Each character you play as is a member of House Forrester; either a direct family member, or a person in service to the House. Scattered across Westeros and Essos, each character will play their part in seeking to save House Forrester from destruction.

So, are you interested in seeing the Lannisters, the Starks and those exeptionally lovable Tyrells in pixel form? Have a gander through the screenshots below but note, this game probably won’t be as beautiful as Far Cry 4 or The Order: 1886. And if you can name each character without flinching, gold star.
